We Survived the Flood of 2010

I've decided that is so much easier to just post our week by week activities instead of trying to have a "subject". So, here are random pics from this last week and a half.
In big news, St. George got hit by a major storm system that dumped 11 inches of rain in under 5 days. Golf Courses ruined, houses evacuated, and lots of sandbags later, everyone seems to be doing well. Coral Canyon wasn't really effected much because we are up on a hill. Our house backs to the cliff, so we were thinking that eventually a mudslide would be our biggest concern, but then the raining just stopped and flood waters receded down further in the valley.
Since today is Christmas Eve Day, we thought we would take a hike to view the river's destruction. Dennise and Carol led the hike with Mack and Pudge (their Bichon mix) galloping full speed ahead. Jayden and Tannon tried to keep up with the dogs, however, our princess Lulu wasn't about to get dirty, so she stayed by us. Anyway, onward to PICTURES!!

Tannon ran all the way down to the river, then needed to be carried back up the hill. He kept telling Justin "good job, dad, carry me up".

Jayden is destined to be a palientologist or geologist. He LOVES rocks and fossils and he's showing off the circular formation on this one.

A lab + water + red dirt = muddy minivan

Another shot of my muddy puppy. I swear the dog is actually smiling, if not laughing at me and my "ugh, crap, how're we gonna get him home NOW" statement.

This is the part of the hike that was covered by water by the river. The river rose up 100 ft from average size to cover this trail.

A backview of my darling daughter in her rhinestone skinny jeans and sherpa lined boots

A random shot of our group. Alyssa is showing off her rhinestone pockets...

Jayden playing down in the runoff stream

Tannon trying to get "yukky" (mud) off his hands. Its too bad I can't photograph his facial expressions. He's too funny!

Me and Lulu

Last night Tannon was trying to get up onto his barstool and slipped, falling to the ground and bringing the heavy barstool on top of him. He smacked his head and his back, the chair fell on his face and foot. It was so sad! He kept saying his foot was broken, so Alyssa doctored him up on the couch. The wrappings on his foot and his head are actually Alyssa's doll blankets. She's destined for med school.

Justin and Jayden are playing a game called TIMEZ ATTACK. Its an awesome game that helps kids learn their times tables. Just google it for a FREE download! (next year they are coming out with addition and subtraction)

And lastly, another shot of Alyssa's curls due to CURLFORMERS! (see previous post)

And that concludes our week so far! The kids are excited for christmas and keep singing that Spongebob Squarepants song, "Santa's Coming Tonight, Tonight". We'll see if I get time tomorrow for a Christmas post. If not, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

all that rain in UT and CA I guess. Sheesh! Didn't even know, glad you're alive! That dog shot is funny. That's so cute of Alyssa being a doc and her curls are awesome.
